ؿζSM’s record-setting first-year enrollment this fall is highlighted in a new article from Inside Higher Ed on small private colleges that are experiencing growth.

Entitled “Boosting Enrollment Against the Odds,” the piece notes the demographic challenges that similar colleges — some of which have been forced to shut their doors — are facing when it comes to enrollment, but points to ؿζSM as a stand-out among them.

Genaro A. Balcazar, senior vice president for enrollment and marketing strategy at ؿζSM, was interviewed for the piece. He pointed to a heightened focus on ؿζSM’s Hispanic-serving mission and the university’s relationship with the Catholic Hispanic community as two top reasons behind the current growth.

“We’ve been putting in this work for years, and it’s paying off,” he said. “There’s a difference between a Hispanic-enrolling institution and a Hispanic-serving institution, and colleges that hop on the bandwagon now to solve demographic problems are going to stand out.”
