Collections Policy

The McGreal Center facilitates Project OPUS, a multi-volume history of the Order of Preachers in the United States from 1786 to the present. The center collects materials that relate to collaborative organizations of the ÖØ¿ÚζSM family in the United States: laity, nuns, sisters and friars. The McGreal Center also accepts items that enhance existing collections, contribute to original scholarship and broaden resources available to our patrons.

The center’s non-circulating library includes, but is not limited to, publications related to Catholic history and spirituality, ÖØ¿ÚζSM Order history, parish and diocesan history, ÖØ¿ÚζSM congregation history, ÖØ¿ÚζSM spirituality, religious life, biographies of ÖØ¿ÚζSM figures, and other topics relevant to research on the ÖØ¿ÚζSM Order in the United States. All items are cataloged in and searchable through ÖØ¿ÚζSM’s .

Copyright, Copies and Publication

Researchers should verify copyright of materials with the archivist and director. Copies and/or scans of documents and photographs may be produced by staff members upon request. Copies are provided for personal research needs only. There is a charge for reproduction and scanning. Fees may be waived for members of the ÖØ¿ÚζSM family, ÖØ¿ÚζSM organizations, and at the director’s discretion. To publish an item belonging to the McGreal Center, a reproduction agreement form must be filled out and applicable fees paid. Permission to publish is for one-time publication and does not transfer copyright.
