Adrian Kok joined ÖØ¿ÚζSM in August 2003, when the fledgling social work program received its first accreditation by CSWE.  As his PhD research was multi disciplinary in nature, he has brought collaboration and stakeholder engagement to his research projects, and teaching practice. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with colleagues from Gerontology, Computer Science, Nutrition, Library and Information Sciences. His current research focuses on how technology affects social work practice, pedagogy, curriculum development, and teaching. He established the gerontology certificate program at the school of social work, co-lead students to Uganda for their community based research projects centered on older adults, and continues to be involved in the development and implementation of outcome assessments for CSWE accreditations.

As a social work educator with a strong interest in curriculum development, Adrian is extremely passionate in developing the technology and research skills of social workers. This enthusiasm has resulted in assignments and teaching that center on scaffolding, critical reflection, and the application in practice. While provides many opportunities for students to succeed in his class, he believes that learning is like a tango, a form of dance that requires both students and instructors to be responsive to each other. By viewing classroom learning as a Tango, he emphasizes the importance of collaboration, mutual respect, and the shared responsibility of both teachers and students in the educational process. This analogy underscores that successful education is not just about transmitting information, but about co-creating an engaging, supportive, and responsive learning environment.
